Where is tunnel beach kauai

Aloha Brittany, unfortunately, the North Shore past Hanalei is closed to tourists until further notice. We are not hoping all will reopen sometime next year. Sorry to have to say, but there is so much on Kauai I am sure you will still have a great time. Mahalo, JP. Kauai is our next Hawaii destination. Probably November or January We love to snorkel.

With Tunnels beach closed what other areas area equivalent. One beach to consider is Lawai on the Poipu coastline next to the Beach House restaurant. If we can assist further, please let us know. Aloha S Wilson, I am sorry to say that all North of Hanalei is still healing from the April flood and will not be open to the public. Most of Hanalei Bay is still open and I know the businesses in Hanalei would appreciate your support. Parrish Blog. Or do you recommend parking on a side street near the 8 mile marker? Ever watched South Pacific and learned about Bali Hai? The beach gets its name from the divers who discovered the caverns and the surfers who have seen the tube near the outer reefs. Admire the clear waters, tall palm trees, and lush, jagged peaks to the west. The beach itself is unique because it has both an inner and outer reef.

By far the most popular activity at Tunnels Beach is snorkeling. The waters are full of sea turtles and tropical fish of all shapes, sizes, and colors, making for an absolutely unmatched experience. You might even get to spot the elusive Hawaiian monk seal! Simply stroll up and down the shoreline and look into the tide for your chance to snag an incredible shell. As we mentioned, parking can be limited, so get there early or be prepared to walk. The surf break is only for experts, since the surf can get incredibly high.

There are two dirt roads just after Tunnels Beach that will take you to Tunnels Beach at. You may see a few signs for other roads deterring you from taking them. These roads will not lead you to Tunnels Beach.

When you go down the two dirt roads after Mile Marker 8, you may have to park along the road and hike the rest of the way to Tunnels Beach. Due to the distance and coarse sand that can be difficult to walk on, this is only recommended for more athletic people. Tunnels Beach looks like the ideal beach to explore on a fun, tropical vacation. This is the perfect place to spend a relaxing afternoon on Kauai with plenty of fun activities to do. Verdant green forests line the beach and beautiful golden sands pave the way to the shore.

There are no services, no public showers, no restrooms, and there's hardly any parking, but once you're there, you're in paradise so bring some drinks and anything else you'll need. With the backdrop of " Bali Hai " and the protective reef, you won't want to leave; at least not until you've seen the sunset. Sunset at Tunnels Beach, Kauai.
