Why do sookie and bill break up in true blood

In the process, Sookie is staked, rescued by Eric, and has to have his blood in order to recover to rescue Bill. Bill had just asked Sookie to marry him giving her a ring and plane tickets to Vermont the only state allowing humans and vampires to marry. Bill has been devoted to Sookie throughout both seasons of True Blood and we anticipate that, like the books, Sookie will attempt to find him in Season 3.

Through all of the book series, even after Sookie had broken up with Bill, he stayed on the periphery watching her to make sure she was all right. Bill has always said that he loved Sookie and that he would die for her if necessary.

Sookie has always known this and mentioned it in Dead and Gone. They were lovers since Bill became a vampire and they had an intense relationship.

They broke up eighty years ago. In this novel, Bill tells Sookie that he had gone to Jackson because Lorena had called him and he was obeying her summons. Bill knew it was dangerous business with Lorena and that he might not make it back. He tells Sookie to wait for him for eight weeks. Lorena ordered Bill to leave Sookie and threatened to kill her. Later after the arrival of Eric Northman at Russell's mansion, Bill declares that Sookie is no longer his.

The next night Russell questions Bill about the file he kept on Sookie. Russell believes the Stackhouse genealogy research Franklin found in Bill's study is for Sophie-Anne, and when Bill denies it Russell has him taken to his room.

Coot comes to visit Bill, and tells him that Sookie is having sex with a werewolf. This enrages Bill to the point where he's able to overpower both Coot and the guard and escape. He goes to Alcide's apartment and warns Sookie that she is in danger and must leave town. Seconds later Coot and Russell break in, subdue him and take Sookie. Both Bill and Sookie are brought to Russell's mansion. Bill succeeds in killing the vampire guard that was holding him and tries to kill the King, but fails.

An enraged Russell orders Lorena to take Bill and stake him. He is taken to a shack where Lorena tortures him until daybreak. Bill expresses his disgust for Lorena and the wish to have met her when she was human. In the morning Coot and Debbie come to the shack and with Lorena's permission start to drink Bill's blood.

After the two leave Sookie enters the shack intending to save Bill. Before she can do anything she is attacked by Lorena.

After she tastes Sookie, Bill gets up and wraps his chains around Lorena's neck and brings her to the ground with him signaling Sookie to stake her. After she does he passes out. Alcide and Tara come in and help wrap Bill up to protect him from the sun. Before they can leave Debbie comes in with a gun. Tara gets the gun from her, and Cooter comes in after that. Alcide shoots him in the heart then in the head before he can shift. He holds off Debbie so they can leave and locks her in.

They put Bill in the back of Alcide's truck and Sookie goes in with him even though Tara protests it. The wolf guards start coming after them, so they drive off.

Alcide runs into one and they get away. Sookie cuts her wrist with a rusty saw to feed Bill. He takes the blood still weakened and gets up, bites her in the neck and starts to drain her. Alcide and Tara stop the truck and check up on Sookie. Since they hear nothing they open up the back of the truck and find her almost dead.

Tara kicks Bill out into the sun and they drive off. Mysteriously, Bill barely burns and runs off. Sookie is rushed to the hospital where she is still unconscious.

That night Bill comes back and offers to save Sookie. Jason backs Bill up and his blood works in bringing her back. As Sookie awakens, she screams when she sees Bill and breaks up with him soon after.

A while later Bill finally comes home and unsuccessfully tries to release Jessica. The finale opens with Bill explaining that he believes in order for Sookie to have a normal life, he has to die.

Throughout the series, the pair held a torch for one another no matter what else was happening. And with Alcide dead and Sookie uninterested in a relationship with Eric, it seemed possible that she and Bill would get back together. But Bill makes it clear that although they can't stay away from one another, he doesn't believe their romance will result in the life Sookie wants.

So he asks her to use her fairy light to end his life before the Hep V kills him, which would also make her completely human. Sookie agrees to think about it. Bill uses his remaining time to make sure his vampire daughter Jessica is taken care of. Jessica got back together with soulmate Hoyt after Hoyt returned to Bon Temps to bury his mother. Jessica had used her vampire powers to erase his memories of her before he moved to Alaska in Season 5, but as soon as Hoyt saw her again, he was drawn to her.

And even though he was in a relationship with Brigette, who traveled with him to Bon Temps, he broke up with her just for the chance to talk to Jessica. With Hoyt and Jessica a couple once more, Bill, ever the Southern gentleman, asks Hoyt if he'll one day marry Jessica. After Hoyt says he would, Jessica suggests they have the wedding that day so Bill is alive to see it.

At the wedding, Sookie realizes that she can hear Bill's thoughts, something that's normally impossible because vampires are technically dead. Hearing Bill's internal pleading to her makes her decide to fulfill his wish to end his life.
